1Immediately after joining

Goal: Get them onto the welcome page and through the first four steps while motivation is highest.

Ten minutes today and this place starts paying you back.

Hey {{first_name}},

You're officially in — welcome.

Honest note before anything else: most people join a community, scroll for a week, and quietly disappear. The ones who get real value do four small things in the first ten minutes. That's the whole difference.

I put those four steps on one page — finish your profile, post your intro, skim the house rules, start a course.

Do them now, while you're still fired up. Every email after this one gets easier if you do.

P.S. Hit reply and tell me the one thing you're trying to figure out right now. I read these.

2Day 1

Goal: Drive the first post. A member who posts once is far more likely to stay.

Nobody can help a stranger.

Hey {{first_name}},

Here's the thing nobody tells you about communities: the members who get the most help aren't the smartest ones. They're the ones people recognise.

So write your intro today. Three lines is plenty:

1. Who you are and what you're building. 2. What you're working on right now — this month, not "someday". 3. The one thing you'd love help with.

That third line is the important one. It's an open door, and people here walk through it.

P.S. Add a photo to your profile first. Faces get replies; blank circles get scrolled past.

3Day 3

Goal: Pull them into the training library and get one lesson actually completed.

Subject
Don't bookmark it. Start it.

Lesson one is shorter than the scroll you were about to do.

Hey {{first_name}},

You've got the full training library sitting in your account right now.

Most people open it, think "this looks great, I'll block out a weekend", and never come back. The weekend never arrives.

So don't block out a weekend. Pick one course, watch lesson one, mark it complete. Twenty minutes. That's the entire ask.

Momentum is a real thing, and it starts with one finished lesson — not a plan to finish forty.

P.S. Not sure which one to pick? Ask in the feed — someone a few steps ahead of you will point you at the right one.

4Day 5

Goal: Teach the norm that keeps the feed useful — specific questions get specific answers.

Subject
How to ask a question that actually gets answered
Preview text
Context, what you tried, where it broke.

Hey {{first_name}},

Vague posts get vague answers. It's not that people don't want to help — they just can't.

"How do I get more sales?" gets you three generic replies.

"I'm running $30/day to a landing page, 400 clicks, 2 sales, here's the page — where's the leak?" gets you a thread full of people pulling it apart for free.

The formula is boring and it always works:

• Context — what you're building and where you are. • What you already tried. • The exact point where it broke.

Go ask your real question that way today. Watch what comes back.

P.S. Screenshots and numbers do more work than paragraphs. Show it.

5Day 7

Goal: Flip them from consumer to contributor at the one-week mark.

Subject
Week one: answer one post

The fastest way to get known here.

Hey {{first_name}},

One week in. Time for the move almost nobody makes early enough.

Go find a post from someone a step or two behind you and answer it properly.

You know more than you think you do. The thing you figured out six months ago and now consider obvious? Somebody in that feed is losing a week to it right now.

Two things happen when you do this. People start recognising your name — and when you post your own stuck point next week, they show up for you.

One post. Today.

P.S. This is genuinely the whole trick to getting value out of a community. Everything else is detail.

6Day 10

Goal: Surface profiles, stories and follows — the relationship layer most members never touch.

Subject
You're only using half the community
Preview text
The feed isn't the whole thing.

Hey {{first_name}},

Quick tour of the parts most members never open:

• Member profiles — tap any name in the feed. You'll find people building the exact thing you are. Follow a few. • Stories — short, unpolished, gone in 24 hours. This is where the real day-to-day work shows up. • Your stats — streaks, points, levels. Petty motivation, but it works.

Communities aren't feeds. They're people. Go find five worth knowing and follow them today.

P.S. Post a story of whatever you're working on right now. Rough is fine — rough is the point.

7Day 14

Goal: Close the sequence with accountability and hand them back to the feed as a habit.

Two weeks in — what actually changed?

Sixty-second self check-in.

Hey {{first_name}},

Two weeks. Be honest with yourself for sixty seconds:

• Did you post your intro? • Did you finish a lesson? • Did you help someone?

If you got all three — post your two-week update in the feed. What you did, what moved, what's next. That post is how you keep going.

If you got none of them, no lecture. Pick the smallest one and do it in the next ten minutes. Nobody's keeping score but you.

This is my last onboarding email. From here it's simple: show up, ask real questions, help where you can. That's the whole thing.

P.S. Still stuck on something? Reply. I'd rather hear it than watch you drift off quietly.
